eastward bound

The success of the carnival wedding three weeks ago has thus brought us 3 new brides. At the moment I think I am still in a state of shock that the carnival wedding was such a success. Not that I ever doubted myself. No, not at all. But it was my first wedding. I will never ever forget that wedding - and I am forever grateful for the response my mother & I have received because of it.

One thing I am majorly excited about is the wedding in November - inspired by the East. Think of indian/thai/chinese/turkish..... Basically full of colour & and a whole lot of fun. No traditions. No religious ceremony. Just a fat jol.

Still waiting for photos from le carnivale... I promise you will be the first to see it!

I best get back to work!

peace & happiness

xoxo

So I watched Ugly Betty for the first time since the first series (which is like 3 years ago?!) and the episode was basically about holding your tongue (fingers?) whilst blogging.

Which makes sense.

It is so easy to vent & express yourself in a negative way - demeaning others, ranting & raving and basically typing hurtful or bad things without a second thought. You could go on about a bad relationship, a nasty boss or terrible food at a restaurant. Things could get ugly if your significant other or even worse, your boss, happens to read it. Luckily, most of my blog so far has been positive - except I still think Home Affairs is slow (who doesn't?) and could really do with some Vitamin B.

Most of the blogs I read are so positive & inspiring it actually gets me in the mood to work.

And for this I thank you - even though you don't know who you are.....

xoxo

click here to download application form

Fri 21 May 2010, 09:22        0 Comment(s)     Report Abuse

Yesterday I downloaded an application form to enrol into a certain prestigious academy. I shall not mention the name as of yet, to avoid counting chickens before they've hatched.

I suppose just downloading it is the first step towards a career in the industry, and I feel somehow more mature by having this form lay on my desk - already filled out I might add.

The thing is, do I send it?

Am I certain that this is what I want to study, to do, to live & breathe for 3 years? It's an industry that you will succeed in without any formal training so somehow I don't even think it is necessary to study. But, in this day and age, you have to have something on paper to prove you are capable in your line of work. Jobs are scarce, and the more qualified the better.

They only accept about 20 students a year.

20.

I better decide quick. Like now.

xoxo

money well spent

I've reached that point in my young life. You know, that point when you suddenly realise that you're soon going to have to pay for arb things such as rent, groceries & Sunlight. Yes, I am at that point right now.

I am currently still living with my parents. Before you shriek with horror and have visions of a 35 year old still attached to mother dearest while nursing a hundred cats and eating TV dinners, just remember that I'm only 19. And that's good by today's standards. I know people in their late 20's still living with their parents. I, however, pay rent to my parents and have 2 jobs. I actually just want to leave - I've been independent my whole life.

It makes me panic. One of these days I have to think about life insurance, interest rates hikes and may even have to attend Ratepayer Association meetings (heaven forbid). Even though I may be over-exaggerating a bit, I do still plan on travelling this year. I do still want to live in GreenPoint next year. And I definitely do still want to attend university next year. And those things don't come cheap.

So, wallet in hand, I went and bought myself one of these:

A cute piggy bank from @home.

Ok, it probably won't get used much but it fits perfectly in my room - and at least the idea is there...

peace & happiness

wedding success!

YAY!

The Carnival themed wedding I planned on the 8th of May was a major success!! If I may even say so myself, it was the best, most original and fun wedding yet (thanks to a team of amazing & dedicated people!). The guests enjoyed themselves thoroughly, the bridal couple had a blast and there was just such a good vibe going on... AMAZING!

The bride is also so creative and imaginative - I'm so glad I could work alongside her during the past months. I learnt a lot and I will be eternally grateful!

I don't have photos as of yet - waiting to get my copy from the bride as soon as she gets back from honeymoon.

Had sooo many favourite moments, of which I will share in my next post!

So amped for Cape Town this weekend - a relaxing reward after months of planning & stress - well deserved for my mom too who made such amazing food!

For now, I'll share this photo from the photo- booth we hired (FUN!!)...

Three weeks and one day until the wedding.

I repeat:

THREE FRIGGIN WEEKS AND ONE DAY UNTIL THE WEDDING - THEE WEDDING!!!

At the tender age of 19 I'm planning my first wedding.

Yes, I will have a continuous supply of Rescue Remedy at my side in a hip flask.

It is pretty arb - the bride is a lot calmer than I am at the moment - I suppose I just am such a people pleaser and SOOO friggin nervous.

But but, things are finally getting itself together - certain things are booked and paid for and hopefully arrive on time.

Exactly how I feel at this moment in time.

I actually don't even know the purpose of this post. Forgive me - I'm not myself at the moment..

peace, happiness & sanity

Yes! I haven't been on here for ages.. I don't even know where to begin but..

in a nutshell, I'm friiiiggggin busy with this Carnival wedding.

Oh oh oh it is so much fun. And the most amazing thing for me is that the bride is SO involved in everything. She is a crafty artsy person herself and has many wild ideas of her own.

Anyway, we have found thee perfect barn to hold the reception.

Think of something like this:

mixed with a lil bit of this:

a dash of this:

and a whopping of this:

sweetened with this:

and there you have it ladies & gentlemen - your very own Carnival-inspired wedding..

With only under a month to go, I better get cracka-lacking..

Can't wait to show you guys pictures of the final product!

peace & happiness

xoxo

It has been a while since I last wrote here, my laptop has thus "grown" a few cob-webs.

Anyhoo, there has been pandemonium here on my side of the planet. The (carnival) wedding's original venue has "double-booked" the same date meaning that I had to run around like a headless chicken searching for a new venue. Which is actually pretty hard around these parts. I mean, our town only has one traffic light - what makes you think it would have more than one venue?

But, GapGirl did come to the rescue, and my mother dearest and I found a new venue. Actually, it basically fell into our laps. Our one dear friend has a rose farm and has kindly allowed us the use of her farm for the wedding. So yesterday The Bride, Groom & I went there and

THEY LOVE IT!!

Score! It is going to take a lot of work to turn the venue into something magical, but I just have that gut feeling that it is going to work.

Will post photo's as soon as possible..

Back to work I go..

xoxoxoxo
